Flood Cleanup in Edmond

We understand how devastating a flood can be for homeowners in Edmond. That’s why we’ve developed a proven flood cleanup process to restore your home efficiently. Our process is thorough, ensuring that every area of your property is addressed.

Emergency Response and Assessment: Our team is on call 24/7 to respond immediately to your flood emergency. Once we arrive, we conduct a thorough assessment of the flood damage, identifying areas that require immediate attention. This allows us to create a customized cleanup plan based on the specifics of your home and neighborhood.

Water Extraction: The first step in flood cleanup is removing all standing water from your home. We use powerful pumps and vacuums to extract water quickly, ensuring that your home is protected from further damage. This process is particularly important in areas like North Edmond, where homes with basements are prone to water pooling.

Structural Drying and Dehumidification: Once the water has been removed, it’s crucial to dry out the structure completely. Our industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers are strategically placed to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and hidden spaces like crawlspaces. This step is critical to prevent mold growth and protect the structural integrity of your home.

Sanitization and Cleaning: Floodwater often carries contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, and chemicals. Our team uses EPA-approved disinfectants to sanitize all affected areas, ensuring your home is safe for your family. This is especially important in residential neighborhoods in Edmond, where families with young children may be more vulnerable to health hazards.

Restoration and Repairs: After the cleanup and drying process, we begin restoring your home to its pre-flood condition. This includes repairing or replacing damaged drywall, flooring, and other structural components. We focus on making your home look and feel like it did before the flood.

Flood damage in Edmond requires immediate attention. Here are some of the key reasons why fast action is crucial after a flood:

Prevent Structural Damage: Water can cause wood to swell, drywall to weaken, and foundations to crack. If left untreated, floodwater can compromise the structural integrity of your home. Edmond homes, particularly in older neighborhoods like Chimney Hill or Coffee Creek, are more susceptible to this kind of damage.

Mold Prevention: Mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours after a flood. Edmond’s warm, humid climate makes homes particularly prone to mold growth after water damage. Mold not only damages your home but can also pose serious health risks, especially for individuals with allergies or respiratory conditions.

Avoid Electrical Hazards: Standing water in a home creates serious electrical risks, especially in homes with older wiring systems. Immediate flood cleanup ensures that any water near electrical outlets or systems is safely removed to prevent fire hazards or electrocution.

Health Risks from Contaminants: Floodwater can contain harmful bacteria and pathogens that can make your home unsafe. Acting quickly to clean and disinfect the affected areas is essential to keeping your family healthy and safe.

Flooding in Edmond can happen for various reasons, and understanding the most common causes can help homeowners better prepare:

Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding: Edmond frequently experiences severe storms, particularly during the spring and summer months. Heavy rains can overwhelm drainage systems, leading to flash floods that invade homes, especially in low-lying areas like the neighborhoods near Hafer Park.

Burst Pipes: In the colder months, frozen pipes can burst, leading to significant water damage inside homes. This is especially common in older homes in neighborhoods like Downtown Edmond, where aging plumbing systems may be more susceptible to damage.

Leaking Roofs: Edmond’s frequent storms can cause roof damage, leading to leaks that allow water to enter homes. Without prompt repairs, these leaks can cause extensive water damage to ceilings and walls.

Clogged Gutters: Neglected gutters can become clogged with debris, preventing proper drainage and causing water to spill over and pool around your home’s foundation. This can result in basement flooding, which is common in Edmond homes with basements.

However, if the water damage is extensive or there are health risks, such as contamination from floodwater, we may recommend temporarily relocating until the cleanup is complete.

How do you ensure my home is completely dry after a flood?
We use industrial-grade air movers, dehumidifiers, and moisture detection tools to ensure that all areas of your home, including hidden spaces, are thoroughly dried. This prevents moisture from remaining in walls or floors, which could lead to mold growth or structural damage.

What are the signs that my home may have flood damage?
Common signs of flood damage include water stains on walls or ceilings, warped floors, a musty odor, and visible mold growth. If you notice any of these signs after heavy rainfall or a plumbing issue, it’s essential to contact a flood cleanup company immediately to prevent further damage.
